The Position: ASSISTANT SHIFT MANAGER: CRANES
Under the supervision of the Crane Manager, This position performs lead responsibilities as a shift foreman for the Crane repair staff; handles more complex and difficult technical Crane repairs.
1. Ensures that the maintenance, breakdown services and or repairs for container handling cranes and spreaders are maintained in a cost effective manner, with consideration given to quality and longer duration of equipment.
§ Provides maintenance and breakdown services for container handling gantry cranes and spreaders.
§ Ensures that emergency work is followed up by reporting to the supervisor and/or manager crane maintenance.
§ Leads Crane technicians to carry out maintenance repairs, fault findings and monitoring.
§ Submits routine and critical inspection and monitoring reports by ensuring accurate and up to date information is recorded into the ERP system/log book.
§ Ensures work conforms to safety rules and regulation
§ Submits daily activity report.
§ Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment.
2. Provides complete and accurate reports to the Manager: Crane Team as needed.
3. Performs any other related activities, as requested.
§ Requires a degree in Electrical, Mechanical engineering. Also must have additional training in both electrical and mechanical fields in any heavy industry.
§ Requires at least seven to ten years of general supervisory experience in Crane maintenance section in any ports, mines, steel and manufacturing plants.
§ Must have an excellent skill on a computer.
§ Requires specific technical knowledge of maintenance and repair of quay cranes, rubber tyred gantry cranes, spreaders and various container handling equipment.
§ Must be able to interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications.
§ Must have knowledge of general supervisory principles.
§ Must have a working knowledge of supervisory and leadership principles, with the ability to influence other team members in a positive way and lead a department of individuals.
§ Must be able to demonstrate leadership and influencing skills.
§ Must be able to exercise good judgment in order to set priorities.
§ Requires excellent supervisory skills, including planning, organizing, and directing work.
§ Must be customer service oriented, sensitive to the needs of the departments and others.
§ Requires intermediate to advanced verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective interpersonal skills.
§ Requires exceptional time management, due to fast-moving, demanding work environment.
